NAFSO Professional Development Event 2015

The NAFSO Professional Development Event 2015 at FSC Castle Head Centre, Grange-over-Sands from January 5th to 7th 2015 will endeavour to bring together educators old and new from the world of field studies/outdoor learning. It will be aimed at NAFSO members and supporters plus the wider world of Learning Outside the Classroom.

The opening Keynote Address, “An Introduction to Morecambe Bay”, will be given by Susannah Bleakley, Executive Director of the Morecambe Bay Partnership. Susannah has taught science, been an exploration geologist with Shell and has enthusiastically led the Partnership for 16 years.

Anthony Thomas OBE, Hon President of NAFSO, will give the closing Keynote Address, titled “Ring out the Old, Bring in the New”. Tony, as he is usually known, has been involved with NAFSO since the early 70’s when he was beginning his involvement with field studies as a career with the FSC. Tony will endeavour to briefly outline the history of NAFSO and offer his views for the future of field studies and the broader world of learning outside the classroom.

Castle Head Field Centre is located on the northern shores of Morecambe Bay in South Lakeland is truly inspirational. If you then add in the excellent facilities of the centre and the wonderful backdrop of the Lake District, you will see that we have a great venue for our PDE.
