Eco-Schools is one of the environmental education programmes of FEE: The Foundation for Environmental Education. FEE is a non-governmental and non-profit organization aiming to promote sustainable development through environmental education in 67 countries. In Slovenia, we started Eco-schools program in 1996. The holder of the Eco-Schools program is Slovenian Foundation of Environmental Education in Europe (DOVES). In the school year 2013/2014, there were 717 kinder gardens, primary and secondary schools included in Eco-Schools program. Over 100,000 children and students and over 8,000 pre-school teachers and teachers took part in the projects about energy, water, waste and many other environmental projects and activities After completing a two-year initiation based on the methodology of SEVEN STEPS, a kinder garden or school receives an international acknowledgement THE GREEN FLAG. In 2011, The Green Flag will flare in front of 566 eco-schools in Slovenia.
