The GTCS is the only independent professional body for teachers in Europe and is totally funded by the registration fees of teachers in Scotland. As well as being a regulatory body we also lead educational policy development and debate which informs and shapes the Professional Standards for teachers. Integral to the revised Standards published in December 2012 and active from August 2014 is a commitment to values , leadership and learning for sustainability.
